Alhumdulillah, we had an amazing interfaith event at the Islamic Society of Delaware tonight. It was a blessed gathering of people from our Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist Communities, which came together for the sake of humanity, to mourn the loss of innocent lives that were lost last Friday in New Zealand. We were also honored by the presence of our elected government officials and law enforcement representatives.
We would like to thank each guest that attended the vigil tonight and also thank each person that has reached out with comforting words over the last 3 days. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We will be hosting a Town Hall meeting with our law enforcement officials in the coming weeks to address the safety and security concerns of our community.
We take solace in knowing that our brothers and sisters from Congregation Beth Shalom, Congregation Beth Emeth, Temple Beth El, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hindu Temple, Sikh Community of Delaware, Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Church of Latter Day Saints, Baha’i Community, Jewish Family Services, Delaware Interfaith Power and Light, as well as our Governor of Delaware, John Carney, our US Senators, Tom Carper and Chris Coons, our US Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, our Lieutenant Governor, Bethany Hall-Long, our Delaware State Senator, Bryan Townsend, our County Executive, Matt Meyer, our Attorney General, Kathy Jennings, our Delaware State Representatives Paul Baumbach and Ed Osienski, our US Attorney’s Office, our Delaware FBI Division, our Delaware State Police, our New Castle County Police, our Newark City Police and many others that attended the vigil tonight are with us in combating hatred and building bridges that will keep us united.
Eternally Grateful, ISD Management
