“Not in My Backyard”
At a recent public meeting about a slag grinding company that is seeking permission to build an industrial facility in Southbridge, residents and representatives of Walan Specialty Construction Products discussed the project.
Some residents said they were seeking a “Community Benefit Agreement” on jobs and pollution with Walan before they would support the project. Others, like Marie Reed (above), are taking a hard line against noise and dust from the proposed plant, which would make a powder used as a cement additive.
Delaware Public Media’s Sophia Schmidt was there and filed this report.
