Show your support for a fair hearing.
Public witness at First Unitarian Church
on Monday at 1:00 p.m.
Dr. Christine Blasey Ford has bravely come forward and shared her story about her sexual assault at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Even though Dr. Blasey Ford has repeatedly stated her desire to testify and share her story, Senate Republicans are doing everything they can to shame, bully, and force her to testify under their unacceptable, inappropriate conditions.
At 1 p.m. EST Monday, join a national walk-out to show your support for Dr. Blasey Ford. All you need to do is wear black and walk out – of your home, your office, your classroom, wherever you are – and post a picture to your social media with the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors.
Join us at 1:00 Monday at First Unitarian Church to support Dr. Ford. We’ll stand vigil on Concord Pike, rain or shine.
Come early if you can to make (waterproof) signs. We’re contacting the press to cover our local demonstration as part of a national movement.
Invite your friends to follow the national movement on Facebook.
Trans Activist Sarah McBride
will speak at First Unitarian
The third annual Peace Week Delaware will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 15, and run for nine days. Nearly 100 events are scheduled across Delaware.
First Unitarian Church is more than a little involved. Our members are in leadership positions on the Peace Week Steering Committee, as well as in the Movement for a Culture of Peace, which launched Peace Week Delaware in 2016.
First Unitarian will once again sponsor a Peace Week event:
Sarah McBride is the National Press Secretary for the Human Rights Campaign and the author of “Tomorrow Will Be Different:Love, Loss, and the Fight for Trans Equality”. In 2012, Sarah made national headlines when she came out as transgender while serving as student body president at American University. A native of Wilmington, Sarah serves on the Board of Directors of Equality Delaware. In that capacity, Sarah helped lead the successful effort to add gender identity and expression to the state’s nondiscrimination and hate-crimes laws.
